Physiotherapy terms and conditions
- Veterinary physiotherapists are required to treat under veterinary referral in accordance with the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966. Therefore, all clients MUST have a referral/consent from their veterinarian before physiotherapy treatment. If your animal has not directly been referred to me by your veterinarian, I will need to contact your veterinarian to acquire a referral prior to your appointment.
- Privacy policy – All of the client’s details are strictly bound by the client confidentiality law and also complies with the general data protection regulation (GDPR). All data is stored complying with GDPR as well as practice policies.
- The right is reserved to refuse physiotherapy treatment if the animal requires veterinary treatment prior to physiotherapy, or if the animal is considered a danger to the physiotherapist.
- Animal rights –
- Please give your dog the opportunity to go to the toilet and empty there bowels prior to the appointment.
- All animals are treated with kindness, care and respect, in nervous patients the first session may be just getting used to me before we are able to do any physiotherapy.
- Any animals presenting with any illness such as vomiting, diarrhoea, coughing or sneezing will need to have their appointment rearranged.
- During the physio session, please have their lead available and ensure your dog is dry and not muddy.
- If your pet is coming into the clinic; dogs must be kept on a lead at all times, cats and small animals please bring them in a secure suitable carrier box.
- Ownership of records – The owner consents to records being shared with their veterinary surgeon if the form of vet reports.
- Use of images - Images and videos of your pet may be taken to upload to the patient's records, some images may be used for social media purposes, please notify the physiotherapist if you do not consent to the use of images.
- Insurance - If you would like to do an insurance claim for your animal’s physiotherapy then you are required to settle the bill and contact the insurance company to claim your pet's sessions
- You understand and agree that you are financially responsible for all charges for any and all services rendered. This includes any service such as consultations, diagnostic tests, procedures, surgery
- You understand that while insurance may confirm your pets cover this is not a guarantee of payment and that you as the owner are responsible for any unpaid balance.
- You understand and agree that it the owners responsibility to know if there insurance has any deductible costs, limits on time to submit claim, any exclusions, % excess, prior authorization requirements or any other type of benefit limitation for the services you receive and you agree to make payment in full.
- You understand and agree that it is your responsibility to know if your insurance requires any prior treatment information
- You agree to inform us of any changes in my insurance cover. If your insurance has changed or is terminated at the time of service, you agree that you are financially responsible for the balance in full.
- Payment and Cancellation fee - Due to the limited appointment availability for physiotherapy clinics, it is our protocol that payment is required when booking the appointment. If you need to reschedule an appointment, it must be done as soon as possible. If an appointment is cancelled within 24 hours of the appointment then unfortunately you will loose this session.
An initial physiotherapy session will take 60-90 minutes; a follow up session will take 30-45minutes.
I will endeavour to keep to my timings; if I am running late you will be kept informed.
